Spring 2024 Classes begin April 12th!

All classes are in-person and are held at my home studio located by the Ashby BART. Weekly video highlights will be available. Class materials will be provided. Class size will be limited to 8 people. All classes are 1 hour long.

Introduction to guitar: Sundays at 7pm starting April 14th If you have never played guitar before, and know almost nothing about it, this is the class for you. You will be amazed at how quickly you can learn to play a few songs. The focus of this class will be to build a solid foundation for learning basic “folk/rock” guitar, starting from zero. We will introduce music vocabulary and theory, chords, strumming, finger picking and singing! The goal of the class is to acquaint you with your instrument in a fun, social and musical environment. You will need to have a guitar to bring to class. This class will run for 8 weeks and the cost is $200.

Beginner 1: Sundays 4:15pm begins April 14th If you know just a small handful of chords or songs, or have taken an intro class or a few lessons in the past, this is the class for you. In this class we will continue to build super fundamental and foundational skills for playing guitar. We will work with basic major and minor chord shapes in the context of simple songs. We will work on musicality: rhythm, strumming, melodies, tablature, finger-picking, theory and repertoire. Each week we will do a combination of review and new songs/ and skills. This class will meet for 8 weeks. The cost of the class is $225.

Beginner 2: (A)Sundays 5:30 starts April 14th OR (B)Fridays at 12pm starts April 19th. If you have been playing for a little while and aim to sing around the campfire this year, this is the class for you. In this class we will build security and confidence with foundational skills, and will peek into more advanced skills like bar chords as well. We will work with fairly simple songs: rhythm, strumming, melodies, tablature, fingerpicking, theory and lots of repertoire. Each week we will do a combination of review and new songs/ and skills. All sections will meet for 8 weeks and the cost is $225.

Beginner 3: (A)Mondays 7:30pm (full) begins April 15th OR (B)Mondays 1:15pm begins April 15th OR (C)Fridays 3:00pm begins April 19th. This is a class for folks who have worked on basic guitar skills, want to stay inspired and also be challenged with new concepts and skills. In this class we will work with all of the basic chord shapes and we will stretch into bar chords, bass runs, simple melodies, fills, and sometimes complex rhythms to make your songs more dynamic. If you enjoy making music with other people in a relaxed setting and want to get a weekly work out and stretch a bit, this is the class for you. All sections will meet for 8 weeks and the cost is $225.
